The J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake is a Maryland must-attend, see-and-be-seen political institution, equal parts seafood and schmooze.
The annual celebration is named in honor of Crisfield native, J. Millard Tawes, the 54th Governor of the State of Maryland. It is described in Frommers Travel Guides as "an outdoor all-you-can-eat affair featuring crabs, clams, fish, corn on the cob, and watermelon, and in election years, lots of politicians."
The event originated as a fundraiser for the J. Millard Tawes Historical Museum, which is named after the former governor. Today, the Chamber of Commerce uses the proceeds to fund projects that benefit Crisfield's schools, police and fire departments, The Lions/Lioness Club, other civic organizations, and much more.
The Crab Trap Tent
The Crab Trap Tent will give you a specific tent, a reserved space for you and your family/friends. This tent will have its own beer wagon, its own DJ, its own potty and a water-mist which is off to the side, so you don't have to use it if you don't want.
You get the reserved space and all the extras for $15 more a ticket. All tickets, including general admission, are $45 per person for the all-u-can-eat festival. So, if you did the Crab Trap tent, it would be a total of $60 per person.
There is no minimum, for one person or for many! If interested, please call the Chamber of Commerce at 410-968-2500. We accept Visa, MC, and Discover.
